On July 17, 2002, the Timberland Regional Library and the City of Yelm opened a new state- of-the-art library in the Fay Fuller Building, part of the Prairie Park development located at 210 Prairie Park Street. As an invaluable community service, the library provides a wide spectrum of services to the citizens of Yelm. The Yelm Library Advisory Board, who serve without compensation for their service, consists of five members appointed by the mayor for a term of five years. The local library is also supported through the Timberland Regional Library Foundation and Friends of the Library.

The services at the Yelm Branch include:

  • Books, videotapes, DVDs, CDs, newspapers, magazines, audio- and videotapes for all ages and interests
  • Downloadable audiobooks, ebooks, videos, and music
  • Public computers with Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Online Reference Databases, including: online magazines and newspapers, encyclopedias, auto manuals, standardized tests
  • Free wireless Internet access
  • Programs and events for children and adults
  • A public meeting room can be reserved for community meetings and programs by calling the Library
  • Friends group

In addition, the library hosts a plethora of special events for kids, teens, and adults including movie previews, art parties, game/board playing, and much more. Yelm residents have found that whatever their passion is, the library has become an indispensable hub of their community.
